The American Gaming Association has announced its 2012 inductees, which include a gambling legend, a Nevada politician, the creative force behind the Las Vegas Strip’s entertainment industry, and a celebrity chef.Dennis Gomes, a former Vegas gaming regulator and Resorts Atlantic City co-owner, and Sen. William Raggio, a former gaming attorney and Nevada’s longest-serving state senator, were both inducted posthumously into the Gaming Hall of Fame. Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté and serial restaurant chef Julian Serrano were also honored.The four men will be formally inducted in the American Gaming Hall of Fame at a massive charity gala and induction ceremony in Las Vegas in October. As you might know, a month ago, sbe Entertainment Group sent out a press release with some details of the financing of the putative SLS Las Vegas. I was skeptical, as were others. Last week, the company sent out a second press release, which provided more details. I still had questions, so, wearing my Vegas Seven gaming and hospitality writer hat, I put a call into sbe. PokerStars Changes from Dealt to Weighted-Contributed VPP Calculation

Beginning January 1st 2012, PokerStars will be changing the method they calculate VPPs from “dealt” to “weighted-contributed.” This means players are rewarded VPPs based on their contribution to the pot that hand, instead of distributed evenly to all players dealt in. This change only affects cash games. This follows a trend that has been ongoing since 2010 of most poker networks moving to a weighted-contributed rake model. “IMPORTANT NOTE: In all cash ring games, points are credited at the end of a hand. Celeb cash, perks worth $50K a year

Mike Hosking stood to gain up to $48,000 this year in cash and perks from casino giant SkyCity, according to financial information obtained by the Herald on Sunday.

The information projects a $2000-per-month payment and up to 2000 “points”, set aside for him to spend at the casino’s hospitality facilities. Hosking is said to have carried out regular work there.

Former RadioLive host Paul Henry was also to be paid $2000 per month cash, potentially, and up to 3000 points. That deal would be worth almost as much as the average wage of $54,000.

Both men also earn hundreds of thousands of dollars through lucrative radio and television contracts.

The Netherlands Ministry of Justice has presented an extensive report to the national parliament which shows that legalizing online gambling would reduce instances of problem gambling.Click here for helpful tips on responsible gambling. The Dutch report found that local participation in illegal online gambling has nearly doubled over the past five years, while participation in all other forms of gambling and the number of problem gamblers had both declined in the same period of time.
